Über Hochland-Schafstationen: Vom Ausgangspunkt, den "Peaks", reiten Sie durch den Waitohi-Fluss ins Vorgebirge der neuseeländischen südlichen Alpen. Auf der Route überqueren Sie einen niedrigeren Bergkamm, bevor es hinunter geht ins Hurunui Tal.

Am nächsten Tag geht es ins neuseeländische Hochland. Sie durchqueren buschiges Weideland, reiten vorbei an Mount Noble, Gola Peak. Von Mount Whitnow führt der Weg zu einem Pass (900 Meter) und ins spektakuläre Seaward-Flusstal. Phantastische Ansichten bieten die bewaldeten Hänge von Eskhead. Die Nacht wird wiederum in den Schafscher-Quartieren von Seven Hills verbracht.

Vorbei geht es am Mount Mizar, Ben Cliberick und Mount Catherine, bis Sie den Fluss verlassen und hoch zum Kanuku Saddle reiten. Ab hier geht es nur noch bergab zu den "Peaks', wo Sie absatteln.

• 1. Tag:
  Transfer from Christchurch to Hanmer by bus or rental car. Overnight at a B&B or local inn. (not included)
• 2. Tag:
  9.30am Arrive at our base at The Peaks. After saddling up and loading the packhorses we ride out from our base at The Peaks, up through the Waitohi River, stopping for lunch, and then pass Mt.Waitohi over hill country to the Seven Hills homestead and cottage. Here we enjoy dinner with the family at the homestead and spend our first night in the cottage or in tents. (Rustic cottage, flush toilet) approx 4.5hrs riding.
• 3. Tag:
  After a cooked breakfast at the Seven Hills homestead we ride over hill country and meet the Waitohi River again. We stop for lunch and a swim at the Mt Noble boundary, passing under Mt Noble and Gola Peak we ride on to Mt. Whitnow Station, a High Country sheep and cattle station, where we camp in the shearers quarters and enjoy an evening meal in comfortable surroundings.(bunks,showers, flush toilet and kitchen) approx 4.5hrs riding.
• 4. Tag:
  We ride up and over a low pass (approx. 900metres.) into the Seaward valley, following the Seaward River, surrounded by mountains, down through its awesome, deep gorges. We cross the river many times and stop for lunch by a deep, clear swimming hole. Then it is further on down the Seaward to its confluence with the Hurunui River, following the Hurunui through its spectacular gorge past Maori Gully to our tent camp in the forest above the Hurunui River. (Camp out, barbecue dinner, swimming hole) approx 5hrs riding.
• 5. Tag:
  Leaving the camp site behind we ride along the banks of the tranquil Hurunui River, under the impressive Hooligan Range with Mt. Mizar, Ben Cliberick, Phyllis Fell and Mount Catherine on the opposite side of the river. We lunch below Mt. Self beside the Hurunui, after which we ride across country again, up and over the Kanuku Saddle (approx.850metres.) with it's panoramic views of the Amuri Basin, down to our base where we unsaddle, unpack, wash the horses down and then enjoy afternoon tea. approx.4.5hrs riding. Departure by bus to Christchurch.

Pferde: Vollblüter, Clydesdale Cross.
Sattel & Zaum: australische Stocksättel.
Reiterfahrung: Basiskenntnisse in allen drei Gangarten, Ausrittfest.
